3   (a)   Derive the equation the tangent of the circle passing through (x1,y1).

      (b)  Two gubertorial aspirants A and B in two different states of Nigeria have probabilities 2/9 and 4/11       
              respectively of winning in an impending election. Find the probabilities that?

            (a)  both of them win in their respective states

            (b)  both of them lose in their respectively states

            (c)  at least one of them wins in his states.

4.    (a) A stone is thrown with a velocity of  ums-1 from a point O. After 4 seconds, the horizontal  
       displacement  from O is 50 and its vertical displacement is 40m. Find:

        (i)  The angle of projection        (ii) The initial velocity u.
        (b) Find the equation of a circle whose centre has a midpoint of (-1,6) from a point (-4,5) on the
           circumference of the circle.

5.   (a)   3(nP2 + 24) = 2nP2,  find the positive value of n

      (b)    Find the equation of a circle which passes the points (-6,-1), (-4,3), (2,-5)

      (c)     Find the radius and center of the circle in 5b above
6  (a). A further mathematics examination consists of 10 questions out of which candidates are to answer 8.

  • The first five questions are compulsory.
  •  At least four out of the first five questions are compulsory.

 (b)     Let two events A and B be defined on the same sample space. Suppose p(B)=0.2 and p(AuB)=0.75.
