MODULE CONTENT
A question tag is an expression that you add to the end of a statement to make it a question or know that someone agrees with you.
E.g. what is your name?
Does she?
QUESTION TAG PARTS
Question tag, have two part in a sentence. These are the body and the tail.
You are a girl, aren’t you?
From the sentence above.
“You are a girl” is the body of the sentence while “Aren’t you” is the tail in the sentence.
QUESTION TAG RULES
The following are rules in question tags.
- When the body is positive, the tail is negative.
Examples
- We have Notes to copy, don’t we?
- Today is Friday, isn’t it?
- When the body is negative, the tail is positive.
Examples
- We don’t have notes to write, do we?
- We aren’t late, are we?
- When the verb has no auxiliary, then we use: do, does. Did.
Examples
He don’t want that, does she?
I ate rice, didn’t I?
USING QUESTION TAG AND ANSWERING TAG
Examples:
Her name is Esther, isn’t it? Yes it is.
“Her name is Esther” is the Body.
“Isn’t it?” is the tail.
“Yes it is” is the answer tag.
PRESENTATION
- The Teacher revises the previous lesson.
- The Teacher introduces the topic.
- The Teacher explains the lessons.
CONCLUSION: the teacher sum up the lesson.
