Apart from the cpu, all other machines are called PERIPHERALS.
To set up a computer user must connect the peripherals to the system unit (CPU) so that they can work together as one computer system.
These peripheral devices are connected to the cpu at the back of the system, most machines like monitor unit and printer have two cable which are: Signal Cable and Power Cable.
- SIGNAL CABLE: it helps the peripherals (Input – Output) Machines to get the information into or from system unit.
- POWER CABLE: it helps to bring or get electric power into the machines we are using.
Machines like mouse, keyboard, light pen, joystick, microphone etc. have only one cable.
