REASONS WHY JESUS PRAYED

The following are some of the reasons why Jesus Prayed.

  1. To honour God and glorify Him.
  2. To receive power from God for ministry.
  3. To show an example of how to pray to his disciples and followers.
  4. He prayed to give thanks to God.
  5. Jesus prayed that God’s will should be done on earth as it was in heaven.

CONTENT OF JESUS’S PRAYER

Jesus prayer usually contained thanks and worship God and requested what he wanted God to do for him.

Evidence of the prayer life of Jesus

Prayer is part of Jesus activities, he prayed always. Like when he wanted to choose his apostles from among the disciples, he went to a mountain and spent all night praying to God. He always prayed at all times before meal, miracles, teaching the people, his arrest and death.

The Importance of praying

  1. To tell God our needs so that the needs will be met.
  2. To thank God for all that he has done for us.
  3. We pray to have a right relationship with God.
  4. For God‘s blessings and to overcome temptation.
  5. For healing and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
  6. To ask God for long life, good health, promotion and progress.

Things to pray for

The following are some thigs people pray for.

  1. Forgives of our sins and those of our loved ones.
  2. Long life and good health.
  3. Wisdom and the gift of the holy spirit
  4. Food, clothes and shelter, children and other good things of life.
  5. Progress in our communities, state, nation and the whole world.
  6. Guidance and protection from our enemies and all the dangers of life.

Prayers: teach us how to pray oh lord.

PRESENTATION

  • The Teacher revises the previous term lessons (Conditions for Forgiveness)
  • Teacher leads the pupils to understand Jesus Prayed to the father.
  • Teacher leads pupils to mention the reasons why Jesus prayed.

EVALUATIVE ACTIVITIES

  • Mention three Reasons why Jesus prayed.
