Week 1& 2
Topic: Classifying of animals
Objectives : At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to classify animals into
three groups – insects, birds, and mammals.
Lesson: 2 Lessons
Materials: Cut out pictures of animals such as insects , birds and mammals.
Activities: The teacher explains classification of animals by mentioning their
characteristics such as their four legs,six legs, eight legs,feathers etc.
Evaluation: Evaluation must be done on the nature and characteristics of all
animals mentioned.
Week 3 & 4
Topic: Classify leaves by their shapes . Leave album
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to put up a simple
classification of leaves by their shapes and alaso make a leaf album.
Lesson: 2 Lessons
Materials: Leaves of different shapes from the school garden.
Activities: The teacher directs the collection of leaves by the pupils around the
school environment. And he further explains the various leaves collected.
Evaluation: Relevant questions are asked on the lesson taught.
Week 5 & 6
Topic: Classification of objects into two
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to classify an object
according to whether it is man made or natural.
Lesson: 2 Lessons
Materials: A collection of natural and man made things ,objects, e.g sand, shoe ,
books, leaf etc.
Activities:Teacher and pupils should go together to pick leaves in and around the
school.
Evaluation: Questions are asked based on the lesson taught.
Week 7 & 8
Topic: Changes in things
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to mention the
common changes that occur around us .
Lesson: 2 Lessons
Materials: empty things, candle, stove, iced cubes,matches and paper.
Activities: The teacher should take pupils through simple practical illustrations of
what happen when you ;
1. Heat candles
2. Boil water ,
3 .burn paper
4. Put iced cubes in water.
Evaluation: Ask relevant questions on the lesson taught.
Week 9 & 10
Topic: Continents of the world
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to mention the seven
continents of the world .
Lesson: 2 Lessons
Materials: The atlas, globe showing the 7 continents of the world ,charts
Activities: The teacher should render a song that will easily impart the 7 continents of the world in pupils memory. Clad your classroom with maps of the world.
Evaluation: Pupils are asked to mention the7 continents of the world .
