Meaning of forgiveness of sin
Sin means breaking God’s Law.
Forgiveness means acknowledging your sin and ask God for pardon.
Examples of people who received forgiveness in the bible
- The prodigal son
- The paralytic
THE PRODIGAL SON
From the bible, Jesus told us a parable about the prodigal son. He told him father to give him his own part of his father’s wealth. After his father has given him.
He travelled to a far country and recklessly spend all the money alone and there was nothing left with him. When there was great famine in the country he went to work in a pig’s farm and also eat some of the pig’s foods. He later realized that he has wasted it life and time he decided to return back to his father and he said “I will arise ad go to my father and I will say to him, father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer fit to be called your son; treat me as one of your higher servants. “So, he returned to his father and his father accepted him and kissed him and the father celebrated him by having a feast and killed the fattest cow for him.
This shows that God is always ready and happy to accept us back when we ask for forgiveness and decided to follow Jesus and never to go back to sin.
THE PARALYTIC
Four men brought a paralyzed man lying on a bed to Jesus when he entered Capernaum. They remove the roof of the house , and made an opening in it and let down the paralyzed man in front of Jesus because Jesus saw their Faith and said to the man “My son, Your sins are forgiven” after seeing this some scribe accuse Jesus of blasphemy. Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Rise, take up your bed and go home.” The man rose up immediately and went to his house. The people that saw him were amazed and they glorified God.
Conditions for Forgiveness
The following are the conditions necessary for forgiveness.
- Acknowledge and accept the truth that we have sinned against God.
- We feel sorry for our sin and ask God for forgiveness
- And promise to never go back to sin.
Need of being forgiveness
- We become the child of God.
- We have a relationship with God, the father and Jesus Christ.
- To forgive others so that God will forgive us also.
Prayers: thank you Jesus for giving us our sins.
