                 MODULE CONTENT

CONCEPT OF MECHANIZED AGRICULTURE

Mechanize agriculture means using machines to do farm work usually on a large farmland. It involves the use of machines such as:

• Trawlers
• Incubator
• Tractor
• Harvester
• Sprinkler
• grinders

PROBLEMS OF MECHANISED AGRICULTURE

1. Costly Machines
2. It can lead to unemployment
3. Increases deforestation
4. Some of the machine make use of electricity
5. Unavailability of storage facilities
6. Difficulty of farmers to get large piece of land

APPLICATION OF MODERN AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY

1. Application of fertilizer to boost crop output
2. By  irrigation in areas with low rainfall
3. Use of tractors, sprinklers in areas where large portions of land are available
4. provision of fish ponds in areas without rivers
5. Use of insecticides to fight pests and diseases that attack crops
6. Use of improved seedlings
7. Use of agricultural  extension staff
