CONTENT OF THE TOPIC

CONCEPT OF SHAPE CONSTRUCTION

Shape Construction is making different shapes of objects such as a cone, funnel, ball, cylinder box with the use of paper, metal, wood and plastic.

MATERIALS USED FOR SHAPE CONSTRUCTION

The materials used for shape construction are:

  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Paper
  • plastic

CUTTING PAPER INTO SHAPE

Paper can be used to form different shapes like star, cone, and box.

Some tools are needed when cutting papers into shapes, these are:

  • Scissor
  • Sellotape
  • Paper gum
  • Pencil
  • Steel rule
  • Compass

SHAPE CONSTRUCTION METHODS

Shapes is constructed using the following methods:

  1. Folding: materials like paper, plastic and metal sheets, wire can folded in different ways.
  2. Bending: materials can be bent to form round or angular shapes. E.g. metal sheet, wire, plastic.
  3. Cutting: using tools like scissors, knife, saw, blade can be used to cut materials into different shapes.
  4. Joining: Adhesives such as gum, of different strength, glue and welding substances are used to join materials during shape construction.

OBJECTS THAT CAN BE CONSTRUCTED

Objects that can be constructed include:

  • Cones
  • Boxes
  • Cylinders
  • funnels
