CONTENT
ELECTRICITY AS A FORM OF ENERGY
Electricity is a form of energy that can travel from one point to another through a conductor. Electricity is important in our lives because it gives us light and most of our home appliances use electricity to work like television set, radio set, and electric pressing iron.
Electricity is the flow of current.
TYPES OF ELECTRICITY
The two major type of electricity are:
- Static Electricity
- Current Electricity
STATIC ELECTRICITY
It is the electricity at rest. That is current don’t move or flow. Whenever you experience electric shock, when you touch a metallic material, when you have experience static electricity. Static electricity can be verify by using a plastic pew to rub your hair and quickly bring the pen close to a piece of paper. The plastic pen will attract the paper.
CURRENT ELECTRICITY
IT is the electricity that allows current to flow from one point to another. It’s measured in Amperes (A). Various home appliances make use of static electricity like TV.
CONDUCTOR AND INSULATOR
Conductors are objects or materials that allow electricity to pass through them e.g metallic materials.
Insulators are object that do not allow current to pass through them. Examples are wood, plastics and non-metallic insulator.
BATTERY AND THE FLOW OF ELECTRIC CURRENT
Battery or cell, wire, and bulb can be used to generate electricity by following these steps:
- Take a dry cell, identify the positive (+) and Negative (-) sides.
- Use a wire to connect the bulb and the cell in two different ways.
- The bulb will glow.
These shows the flow of current from the cell to the bulb.
PRESENTATION
- The Teacher revises the previous lesson.
- The Teacher introduces the topic.
- The Teacher explains the lessons.
LESSON EVALUATION
Learners are asked:
- What is electricity?
- List the two type of electricity
CONCLUSION: the teacher summarize the lesson.
