Meaning of Environment

Environment means everything surrounding us with the people around us.The environment is made up of air, water, plants, animals, rocks, and mountains and other creatures on earth.

Basic needs of environment

1. Oxygen for breathing  from air
2. Water from rain.
3. Food from plants and animals.
4. Shelter

How to care for the Environment

The following are ways of taking care of our environment are:

1. Through cleaning practices like sweeping, removal of unwanted weeds, cleaning of buildings and surroundings.
2. Conserving Water
3. Conserving energy like switching off light when not in use.
4. Making our pets and animals environmentally friendly.
5. Protecting plants and animals.
6. Garbage or trash disposal
7. Good character/attitude by tolerating one another
8. Using environmentally friendly materials

Materials /tools for environmental care

The following tools are used to clean the environment.

1. Mop and mopping bucket.
2. Watering can
3. Broom
4. Trash or waste water
5. Gloves
6. Cleaning brushes and dust pan

9. Pruner
10. Wheelbarrow

Practical care of an Environment

1. Always empty trash bin.
2. Open windows and doors to allow ventilation.
3. Close tap when not in use.
4. Planting of trees to provide shade and beautify the environment.
5. Switching off lights and electrical items when not in use.
6. Cleaning of the surroundings every time.

Benefits of caring for an Environment

Caring for an environment brings the following:

1. Healthy living.
2. It show we are grateful to our environment.
3. It provides good welfare of the society
4. It reduces earth warming
5. It make us comfortable

PRESENTATION

• The Teacher revises the previous lesson (Mode of Greetings).
• The Teacher introduces the topic: Care of the Environment
• He/she explains the basic needs of the environment.
• He/she explains how to care for the Environment.
• The teacher leads pupils to mention the Materials /tools for environmental care.
• The pupils copy and submit their note for marking.
