WEEK 1 – 2: COMPONENTS OF CIVIC EDUCATION, NATIONALITY, RIGHT AND DUTIES.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES
- Teacher briefly defines Civic Education as the study of the political rights and responsibilities of citizens and of the operations of government.
- She leads pupils to explain the meaning of components as: part or elements of civic Education.
- She now explains that nationality, rights and duties are components of civic education.
- She leads pupil to explain the meaning of nationality as: membership of a particular nation or state by origin, birth, naturalization, ownership, allegiance or otherwise.
- She define “right” as something you are morally, legally or officially allowed to do or have e.g. right to life, right to vote and be voted for, etc.
- Teacher defines “duties” as things that people are supposed to perform for the benefit of the society e.g. payment of tax, etc.
- She leads pupils to mention examples of rights and duties.

TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES
- Teacher briefly look back at the “definition of component of civic education”
- She leads pupil to explain the meanings of practices democratic practices and community values.
- She defines democratic practices as a way by which people elect those who govern them or the practice by which people agree to do things in the same way.
- She defines community values as principles, standards and qualities that characterize the way we’d things. They are things we do and share because we are for others.
- She leads class discussion on democratic practices and community values.
- She displays a poster of where an election is taking place.

TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES
- Teacher guides pupils on the meaning of “Dimensions of civic education.”
- She explains dimension from the context, to mean parts or features or ways of considering things.
- She describe political dimension to civic education as a very strong pillar. The political structure of a nation directly influences the level of civic education in a country.
- She further explains the “legal dimension” as rules and regulations or the constitution or rule of law that guide the operations of a government and citizens of a country.
- She organizes a class discussion on the political and legal dimensions.

WEEK 8 – 11: DIMENSIONS OF CIVIC EDUCAION, SOCIAL ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES
- Teacher briefly revisits the definition of dimension.
- She explains social dimension to civic education as interaction between people in a society as a political socialization.
- Economic dimension: teacher throw more light on the influence of economy on the operations of government. It deals with production, distribution and consumption of goods and services.
- Cultural Dimension: culture is the way of life of people. It plays a very important role in Civic education. Cultural beliefs of a society or nation determine the level of civic education.
- Teacher role plays situations that explains the dimension of civic education.
- She displays pictures of law court, political campaign, etc.
