SUB THEME: BASIC MOVEMENTS
WEEK 1: Movement made by Animals, people, machine, etc.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES:
- Teachers lead the class to state the meaning of movement
- She explains and demonstrate different types of movement, rhythm, and pattern made by animal’s e.g. flying, running, hopping, swimming.
- She display pictures/posters of different types of animals on the move.
- She ask pupils to demonstrate different types of movement rhythms and patterns made by people e.g. walking, running, jumping, etc.
- She shows pupils pictures/posters of patterns and demonstrates them.
- She explains different types of movement rhythms and patterns made by machine.
E.g. cars – move on the road, aero plane fly, etc.
- Teacher displays pictures and poster s of movements made by machine.
PUPILS ACTIVITIES
- Pupils listen and imitate teacher’s demonstration
- They observe pictures and posters on display.
- They mention types of movement made by people, animals and machines.

WEEK 2: FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT PATTERNS
TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES:
- Teacher guides pupils in a warm up activities on the playground
- Teacher leads people to demonstrate fundamental movement patterns
- She mentions fundamental movement patterns: bending, crawling, galloping, and climbing.
- She explains and demonstrates fundamental movement patterns.
- She supervises the pupils practice and make corrections

- They imitate teacher’s demonstrations.

WEEK 3 – 4: COMPONENTS OF PHYSICAL FITNESS

- Teacher organizes warm up activities on the school playground.
- She leads pupils to explain physical fitness:
I.e. the ability to perform physical tasks especially as they relate to sport or occupation.
- She lists the component of physical fitness e.g.
- Endurance
- Strength
- Flexibility, etc.
- She explains the components of physical fitness mentioned.
- She demonstrate physical fitness activities to achieve endurance, strength, flexibility, etc.
- She summarizes important points on board

- She leads pupils to explain the word “Athletics” i.e. sports such as: running and jumping, track and field event.
- She leads pupils to define sprints: a race in which the competitors run, swim, etc. very fast over a short distance.
- Teacher explains the different type of races i.e. 100 metre, 200 metre, 400metres
- She demonstrate the different types of races.
