LAGOS STATE RELEASES APPROVED 2025/2026 HARMONIED ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR SCHOOLS
The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), is pleased to announce the official release of the approved 2025/2026 Harmonised Academic Calendar for all public and private schools operating within the State.
This approval follows a rigorous and participatory process involving key stakeholders from both the public and private education sectors, including representatives from school associations, proprietors, principals, education experts, and relevant regulatory bodies. The final version of the calendar was ratified after thorough deliberations at the final stakeholders’ meeting and has now received the gracious approval of the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun.
Highlights of the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar include:
First Term: Monday, 15th September 2025 – Friday, 19th December 2025
Second Term: Monday, 12th January 2026 – Friday, 17th April 2026
Third Term: Monday, 4th May 2026 – Friday, 24th July 2026
The calendar ensures alignment with national education policies, public holidays, external examinations, and the minimum number of instructional weeks required per term. It also accommodates the peculiarities of international schools and promotes uniformity and equity across all schools in the State.
Schools are expected to strictly adhere to the dates and guidelines outlined in the calendar. Monitoring and compliance checks will be conducted by the Office of Education Quality Assurance to ensure smooth implementation.
