- They make learning easy and interesting
- They promote the spirit of competition and determination among students
- They serve as veritable learning and teaching tools for effective knowledge transfer

STEPS IN SETTING UP SCHOOL CLUBS
- Determine the clubs you want to set up in the school – Debates, Drama, Press, etc
- All teachers and the school authorities should agree on what activities the club members will be involved in and when and where the different clubs will meet weekly.
- Different teachers should be assigned to handle and coordinate the different clubs
- Patrons should be appointed amongst parents to serve as patrons of the different clubs.
- Send letters to parents informing them of the existence of these clubs in the school and asking them to choose which club or clubs they will like their children to join.
- Reserve at least two hours each week (probably on Fridays) for club activities.
- Gather the children on the agreed club days and engage them in the direction of the club activities
- Periodically organize competitions within the school amongst club members. E.g. Inter-house debates competition, spelling competitions, Art competitions, Drama etc.
- Arrange excursions and learning trips for club members. E.g. press club members could visit the TV or Radio station, Music Club members could visit a recording studio. Home Economics members could visit a bakery, JETS Club members visit an engineering company or a nearby mechanic workshop, furniture making company, etc.
- Encourage the club patrons to meet with the club members at least once a term
ORGANISING IN-HOUSE SEMINARS FOR THE STUDENT
Principals/HMs should periodically organise in-house seminars on Moral Decent Behavior, Leadership, Career Guidance etc for the senior prima and senior secondary students. Separate seminars could also be organize for the girls and separate ones for the boys which is called Gender assembly
