QUALITY OF SERVICES PROVIDED BY GOVERNMENT

The following are the services that a government should provide to its citizens:

1. Provision of  good and quality education
2. Secure the nation against external forces
3. Provision of health care services.
4. Ensure that justice and equity is guaranteed.
5. Maintain law and order in the nation through security and law enforcement agencies.
6. Provision of social amenities such as schools, roads, electricity, pipe borne water,
7. They provide security services.
8. Provision of employment to the people in the country.
9. Protection of human right
10. Educate the people about the government policies
11. Establishment of  international trade and cooperation
12. Intervene in disputes between the citizens and government through the court of law.
13. They provide easy communication for the citizens like television station, radio station.

Types of services provided by the government

1. They give reports and are accountable on how resources are used (Accountability).
2. They should be open to the citizen and have no hidden agenda (Transparency).
3. Fulfillment of promises.
4. Perform quality work.
5. They venture on project at the right time to bring rapid development.
6. The government policy should benefit its citizens.

WHY GOVERNMENT IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE SERVICES

1.  Inadequate funds to carry out their responsibilities.
2. some local government refuse to manage it area
3. When there is too much control from the state government to the local government.
4. Failure of the state government to give what is due to the local government authority
5. Religion differences
6. Ethnic differences
7. Political party differences
8. Increase in population
9. Corruption
10. Poor income
11. Contract are wrongly awarded
12. Stealing of public properties
13. Vandalizing public facilities
14. Insensitivity of Government
15. Problems of electricity supply and bad road

CONSEQUENCES OF POOR SERVICES

1. Increase in crime rate
2. Unemployment
3. Under employment
4. Low living standard
5. High rate of criminals
6. Low production
7. Unhappiness
8. Reduces the growth of development of the economy
9. Poverty
10. Accidents on the road.
11. Outspread of diseases.

HOW TO HELP GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE SERVICES

1. Payment of taxes, rates and levies at due time.
2. Provision f social services in the community by companies.
3. Payment if electricity bills, water bills, etc.
4. Report criminals around us.
5. Joining your community in environmental sanitation.
6. Payment of fees like school fees.
