Second Term Nursery one Mathematics Curriculum
Week 1& 2
Topic: Review numbers 1-15
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to read and identify
numbers 1-15
Lesson: 8 Lessons
Materials: Charts and large movable numbers
Activities: as in week 10 of first term
Evaluation: Ditto
Week 3&4
Topic : Introduce ordering of sets
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to order a given set of Numbers
Lesson: 8 Lessons
Materials: clean cards, charts on ordering of numbers
Activities: Teacher should guide pupils to order numbers as follows :
Evaluation: Evaluation should be both practical and written
Week 5&6
Topic: Introduce numbers 16-20
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to read and identify
correctly numbers 1-20
Lesson: 8 Lessons
Materials: Charts and movable numbers
Activities: Do all activities that will enhance recognition such as : Dictation, Matching, fill in etc.
Evaluation: Evaluate as in week 1&2
Week 7&8
Topic: More work on set and ordering of numbers
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to order a given set of
numbers.
Lesson: 8 Lessons
Material: Wipe clean cards and charts
Activities: Teacher should guide pupils to order a given set of numbers
Evaluation: Carry out practical and written evaluation.
Week 9 & 10
Topic: Introduce the addition sign as put together (+)
Objectives: At the end of the lesson , pupils should be able to carry out horizontal
and vertical addition of numbers .
Lesson : 8 Lessons
Materials; Counters, charts and card
Activities: Teacher should guide the pupils to use concrete objects to carry out
simple addition : 3 + 4=7
