CAUSES OF FALSEHOOD AND THEFT

  1. Need to cover a crime; People engage in falsehood to cover the crime they have committed
  2. Love of money; Most business men deceive their customers to make abnormal profit from them,
  3.  Love of position of honour; some engage in  falsehood so that they can be promoted to a place of honour,
  4. Punishment; sometimes, those who are suspected to have committed a crime tell lies to escape punishment
  5. Need to preserve their dignity, honour and respect; people tell lies to ensure that they do not lose the respect and honour they get from the society,

EFFECTS OF FALSEHOOD

  1. cheating; businessmen that lie cheat their customers and make illicit gain on them,
  2. low productivity; Those who use false certificate for employment will eventually become inefficient in the workplace, this brings about low productivity
  3. slow economic progress; Low productivity arising from inefficiency will slow down economic growth,
  4.  High cost of living; Hike in price will lead to inflation which also result in high cost of living,

PREVENTION OF FALSEHOOD

  1. Contentment
  2. Honesty
  3. severe punishment
  4. Truth should be encouraged
  5. Good exemplary lives of parents and leaders

CAUSES OF THEFT

The causes of theft include following;;

  1. lack of contentment
  2. crave for money and materialism
  3. covetousness
  4. kleptomania; This is the act of stealing just for fun, although the person has no good reason for stealing, he just feels like taking what does not belong to him.
  5. Peer group influence.
  6. laziness

Effects of Theft

  1. it tarnishes good image
  2. it attracts serious punishment
  3. it unleashes hardship on the owner
  4. it may lead to huge financial loss

Prevention of Theft

  1. Good moral upbringing
  2. good exemplary lives
  3. obedience to religion instructions
  4. Severe punishment of offenders

CAUSES OF MURDER AND RAPE

Rape is an act of forcing an opposite gender into sexual relationship, the female gender falls victim most often, it is a crime because it involves violence

CAUSES OF RAPE

Rape can be caused by any of the following;

  1. Exposure to pornography; constant exposure to nude pictures and watching of blue films lust leading to rape.
  2.  Peer influence; A person can be influence by his friends who are rapists to develop the habit
  3.  Movement during odd hours; Girls who walk during odd hours in boys populated areas can fall victim
  4.  Indecent dressing; Girls who are fond of dressing indecently can be rape eventually
  5.  Immoral music; bad or obscene lyrics from some musicians can create sexual passion in youths, which could lead to rape.
  6. occultics activities; sometimes ,rape occurs for occultic reasons particularly a situation where a 60 years old man rapes a two year old girl.
  7. Lack of self-control; some go into rape because they lack the ability to resist and subdue the urge to commit the crime.

Prevention of rape

  1. avoid walking in lonely places
  2. severe punishment for offenders
  3. Enlightenment campaigns for the public
  4. Mind who you walk with
  5. be watchful at social functions

Effects of Rape;

  1. Psychological trauma
  2. health problems
  3. danger of contracting Hiv/Aids
  4. Social stigmatization
  5. Causes of murder;

Effects of Murder

  1. psychological trauma on the family; murder brings sorrow and heart ache to the family of the deceased.
  2. mental disorder; The partner of a gruesomely murdered person can have problem.
  3. financial difficulty; If the breadwinner of the family is murdered, life can be harsh and hard financial for the entire family.
  4. life imprisonment; someone who commits murder could be sentenced to life jail

It is a fraudulent act of taking money from another person without supplying the good or providing the services to the victim, it is also known as 419 in Nigeria

This is the act of diverting public, employer’s or a group of people’s fund for personal use,it is an act of corruption

  1. Problem of maintaining discipline; school authority find it difficult to instill discipline on cult members because of fear of being attacked.
  2. Breakdown of law and order; cultism breeds chaos and fighting ,This often disturbs the peace of the school and threatens the society of innocent students,
  3. Condones bullying and abuse of others rights;; cult members use their power to infringe on other peoples right ,they bully and oppress non-members
  4. Fall in standard of education ; The fear of being attacked by cult members may force lecturers to award marks to cultists, this makes cultist half-baked graduate.

Bribery is an act of inducing an individual through financial and non financial means to secure his favour ,bribery is a form of corruption, A person giving or taking bribe is corrupt

  1. Misplacement of social values; The tendency to accumulate wealth propels many people to be corrupt, wealth has been given unnecessary recognition and regard above honesty and integrity in the society.
  2. poverty; A government officials from a poor family may likely engage in corrupt practices to bail himself and his family out of poverty,
  3. Impatience; Many youths are not willing to toil and labour before achieving anything,This makes them gives bribe to get certificate which they do not work for,

Banned foods are food that have been restricted from being imported into the country

Contaminated foods are food that are unfit for human consumption due to its contamination.

Relating with security Agents

Security agents are professionals specially trained to maintained law and order,protect lives and properties in the society,

The military

The military in Nigeria consists of the Nigeria Army…the land branch of the armed forces,Navy ..the sea branch and the Air force..The air branch

The three are normally referred to as Nigerian Armed forces,

Since the time it was created, the Nigerian military has fought in the 1967-1970 civil war,

It has seized power on many occasions through coup de tat,

In recent times, it has helped in defeating the Boko Haram activities in the Northern part of the country,

ROLES OF THE MILITARY;;

According to the section 217 of the 1999 constitution,functions of the military in national security are;

  1. Defending Nigeria from eternal aggression
  2. maintaining Nigeria territorial integrity and securing its borders
  3. suppressing insurrection and act in aid of civil authorities to restore order;

THE NIGERIA POLICE

The aim of Nigeria police is to enhance the quality of life in Nigeria,by working in partnership with community, in accordance with the constitution, it has right to enforce laws ,preserve peace, reduce fear and provide for a safe environment

The role of police in National security;

  1. it protects lives and properties
  2. it assists in detecting and apprehending suspected criminals
  3. it investigates criminal cases and prosecutes suspected criminal in court Others are National drug law enforcement agency, (NDLEA) the department of state services,(DSS)
