TERM ONE  NEWS AND CONVERSATION CURRICULUM

RECEPTION

Week 1 & 2

Topic:                    All about the school

Objectives:         At the end of the lesson pupil should be able to tell what he & she has been taught about the school.

Lesson:                 2 lesson

Materials            The school

Activity:               Teachers should take the pupil on a tour round the school making stops and important places such as HM’s office, the loo (Toilet) the sick bay, the play ground etc. who is the Head teacher.

Evaluation:         Let the evaluation be guided by the activities carried out.

Week 3 & 4

Topic:                    Who I am

Objective :          At the end of the lesson pupil should be  able to make a kind of introduction of him/herself

Lesson:                 2 lesson

Materials:           The pupils in the class

Activity:               Teacher should introduce him/herself

Evaluation:         What is your name?

                                How old are you etc

Week 5 & 6

Topic :                   Who my parents are:

Objective:           At the end of the lesson pupil should be able to tell his father/mothers name and state whether the mother is a nurse, teacher, doctor etc.

Lesson:                 2 lesson

Materials            Individual Childs parent

Activity:               Teacher should hold conversation with pupil in which the child will state his parent’s name not ‘daddy’ or mummy’ e.g clement, Deborah

Evaluation:         Oral evaluation should includes

                                What is your daddy’s name

                                What does your daddy do etc.

Week 7 & 8

Topic:                    Who my teacher is

Objection:           At the end of the lesson pupil should be able to address his/her teacher formally.

Lesson:                 2 lesson

Materials:           The class teacher

Activity:               Teacher should teach the pupil her/his name e.g “I am Mrs Owolabi” The teacher should let the child know that she – the teacher is to be addressed formally by the pupil.

Evaluation:         Who is year teacher/what is your teacher’s  name

Week 9 & 10

Topic:                    My way to school

Lesson:                 2 lessons

Objectives:         At the end of the lesson pupil should be able to tell a few kind weeks he/she has noticed on the way to school

Materials:           Places on the child’s way to school

Activity:               Teacher should tell the pupil about things he/she has noticed on her way to school e.g the shopping mall, Mr. big’s

Evaluation:         Tell the class two things you see on your way to school  every day.

Week 11              Revision
