Weeds are unwanted plant. It can also be a plant growing in the wrong place.

• Ground Ivy (Creeping Charlie)
• Common Milkweed
• Ragweed

EFFECTS OF WEEDS TO FARMERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

• They compete for space, water and light up the planted crops on the farm.
• They compete with planted crops for plant foods(nutrient)
• They reduce the yield of harvested crops
• They invites diseases and pests to the planted crops
• Control of weeds increases the cost of producing farm produce
• Overgrown weeds make our environment bushy and dirty
• Bushy environment keeps snakes, scorpions and other dangerous animals.

IMPORTANCE OF WEEDS TO FARMERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

• They provide nectar for bees.
• Protect the soil from erosion
• Sometimes they help to beautify our environment
• Replenish organic matter, and feed and restore soil life
• Absorb, conserve, and recycle soluble nutrients that would otherwise leach away
• Absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere
• Restore biodiversity
• Provide habitat for insects and animals
• They are source of pesticides
• Weeds provide food and cover for animal
