CLASSIFICATION OF NURSERY AND KINDERGARTEN PUPILS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Folami M.A (Mrs.), Director of School Support Amuwo – Odofin Lagos state, Wrote on the 28th of April, 2021 in a circular, informing schools to return to the right classroom age composition.

She wrote that during the conduct of the Y2020/2021 2nd Term Unified Examination, the monitoring officers, of the board observed that most schools did not comply with the classroom age composition in Nursery and Kindergarten classes. Thus, this may affect the performance of pupils in these categories.

She recalls that primary education is the bedrock of all stages of learning, the Lagos State Government is operating in line with the Universal Basic Education policy which gives room for Nursery I, Nursery II, Kindergarten, Primary 1 – 6, and JSS 1 – 3 progressive education.
